Wood Lightener Bleach Stain Remover

Louis XIII Wood Brightener is a versatile product designed to restore radiance and uniformity to dull, stained, or blackened wood. It works effectively on both interior and exterior wood, eliminating water marks, the effects of old alkaline strippers (soda, potash), and the tannin responsible for darkening. Perfect for removing stubborn stains (rust, ink, blood, beverages, etc.), it can also be used to lighten furniture that is too dark, remove dye residues after sanding, or revive grayed woods like teak before treatment. Its fungicidal and bactericidal action provides deep protection to the wood before any finishing operation. Ideal for renovating furniture, woodwork, parquet floors, decks, or shutters.

Thanks to its highly concentrated acidic formula, Louis XIII Wood Lightener brightens indoor and outdoor woods that have been blackened by water or certain soda or potash-based strippers. It also removes most non-greasy stains such as blood, rust, old inks, or beverages.

This product must only be used on raw wood, free of any coating (wax, varnish, etc.). Its formula contains an anti-flash rust additive that limits the appearance of rust spots on any metal elements present on the surface (for example, nail heads).

It also possesses fungicidal and bactericidal properties, helping to protect the wood before finishing operations. After rinsing with clean water, all finishes (wax, varnish, oil, paint, etc.) are possible.

Coverage: approximately 15 m² per liter, depending on the porosity and humidity of the wood.

Action / drying time: approximately 8 hours.

Before use: Rinse surfaces that have been treated with any other product thoroughly with plenty of water. In case of doubt, perform a preliminary rinse.

Use:

1. Shake the container well before use.
2. Apply the product using a synthetic bristle brush, new or reserved for this purpose.
3. Spread an even coat over the entire surface to be treated.
4. Leave to act for 10 to 15 minutes.
5. Reapply to persistent stains if necessary.
   

 After use:

1. It is essential to rinse the substrate with plenty of water to remove all traces of acidity from the wood.
2. Allow to dry, then sand and dust the surface.
3. Rinse all equipment and cloths that have been in contact with the product thoroughly with clear water.

Precautions:

• Do not let the product come into contact with metal and do not store it in metal containers. Use only glass containers.
• Ensure good ventilation during application, as well as during the drying of the product and the surface after rinsing.
• Never mix with another product and follow the safety instructions.
• Wear suitable gloves, goggles, and protective clothing when using.

Surface preparation: Prepare the surface according to best practices. The wood must be raw and free of any coating (varnish, paint, wax, etc.).

• Waxed wood: strip down to the raw surface using Louis XIII Wax Remover (item codes: 3114 – 3116) and Louis XIII Steel Wool No. 2 (item codes: 3621 – 3626), then apply Louis XIII Cabinetmaker’s Stripper (item code: 3102). Rinse thoroughly, sand with fine sandpaper, and dust off.
• Varnished wood: strip with Louis XIII Cabinetmaker’s Stripper (item code: 3102) and Louis XIII Steel Wool No. 2 (item codes: 3621 – 3626). Rinse, sand with fine sandpaper, and dust off.
• Grease stains: soak the area with Louis XIII Wood/Tile Degreaser (item code: 4172), then sprinkle with AVEL Terre de Sommières (item code: 4212). Let dry, clean using the Louis XIII Tampico Brush (item code: 3652), sand lightly, and dust off.
