Red Wood Bleach

LOUIS XIII Red Wood Bleach is specially formulated to neutralize the natural tint of red exotic woods (such as padauk, mahogany, etc.). It offers the unique possibility of transforming these dark woods into a light base, similar to traditional European species. Once bleached, the wood can be stained freely, allowing you to harmonize furniture, woodwork, shutters, doors, or windows with your interior or exterior decor. This process finally makes it possible to achieve oak, cherry, or walnut finishes on exotic woods that were previously incompatible with these shades.

Bleach interior and exterior exotic red woods, for The LOUIS XIII Red Wood Bleach allows you to bleach exotic red woods, both indoors and outdoors, to give them the shade of light-colored woods. This bleaching process then facilitates coloring work and makes it possible to harmoniously match the tones of furniture, woodwork, door and window frames, shutters, doors, and windows with existing furniture and environments.

Designed for raw wood, it bleaches deeply and uniformly, eliminating the influence of the treated wood's natural color. All finishes then become possible, in tones (oak, cherry, walnut, etc.) previously impossible to obtain on exotic red woods.

This special formula, highly effective, contains sodium chlorite. As such, it is imperative to never mix the product with any other preparation product, and to read and strictly follow all safety instructions appearing on the packaging and the Safety Data Sheet.

Coverage: ± 15 m² per liter depending on the porosity and moisture content of the wood. Action / drying time: 8 hours.

Before use

Read the safety advice and instructions carefully. Rinse all surfaces that have previously been treated with another product, particularly an acidic product, thoroughly with plenty of water. In case of doubt, always rinse.

Use

1. Shake the container well.
2. Apply the product using a synthetic bristle brush, new or dedicated to this use.
3. Apply an even layer over the entire surface.
4. Allow to dry completely.
5. RINSING WITH PLENTY OF WATER IS MANDATORY.
6. Repeat the operation if necessary.

After use

• It is mandatory to rinse the substrate with plenty of water before any handling and before any sanding (⚠️ RISK OF IGNITION BY FRICTION). • Rinse all equipment and cloths that have been in contact with the product thoroughly with clean water.

• Exotic red woods (padauk, mahogany, etc.)
• Furniture and interior woodwork
• Shutters, doors, and windows in raw wood
• Renovation and decoration work requiring color harmonization

Prepare the surface carefully: the wood must be raw, clean, and free of any coating (varnish, paint, wax, etc.). 

Waxed wood 

Restore to the raw state using LOUIS XIII Wax Remover (item codes: 3114–3116) and LOUIS XIII Steel Wool No. 2 (item codes: 3621–3626), then use LOUIS XIII Cabinetmaker's Stripper (item code: 3102). Rinse thoroughly, sand with fine sandpaper, and remove dust. 

Varnished wood 

Strip with LOUIS XIII Cabinetmaker's Stripper (item code: 3102) and LOUIS XIII Steel Wool No. 2 (item codes: 3621–3626). Rinse, sand with fine sandpaper, and remove dust. 

Darkened raw wood 

Restore the wood's natural shade with LOUIS XIII Wood Lightener (item code: 3120). Warning: this product is highly acidic. It must never be mixed with or applied before or after LOUIS XIII Red Wood Bleach without abundant and careful rinsing with clear water between treatments. 

Lean stains 

(Blood, rust, old ink, drinks, etc.) Remove them with LOUIS XIII Wood Lightener (item code: 3120). Same precaution as above: never combine or use this product sequentially with Red Wood Bleach without intensive prior rinsing. 

Grease stains 

Saturate the area with LOUIS XIII Wood/Tile Degreaser Cleaner (item code: 4172), then sprinkle with AVEL Terre de Sommières (item code: 4212). Let dry, brush with a LOUIS XIII Tampico Brush (item code: 3652), sand lightly with fine sandpaper, and remove dust. 

Never put the product in containers made of aluminum, ordinary steel, copper, alloys, or natural rubber. 

Ensure effective ventilation during application, product drying, and drying of the surface after rinsing. 

NEVER MIX this product with another and always follow safety instructions. 

Mandatory protection: gloves, goggles, and suitable clothing. 

DO NOT FORGET TO PROTECT YOURSELF WITH GLOVES, GOGGLES, AND APPROPRIATE CLOTHING.
